< Go Back The benefit of using microfiber cloths in commercial office cleaning Posted: Oct 7, 2016 Clearview have been using microfiber cloths for a number of years
now in commercial cleaning and their benefits have been significant.
The fact that they can be used with no chemicals and that
they will remove more than 60 percent more bacteria than other cloths, in fact
99 percent of bacteria, without the use of chemicals, is their biggest benefit. Chemicals are sometimes
over used and leave a residue on surfaces which can often been seen as
smearing.
A microfiber cloth has this ability because the cloth is
manufactured from mainly polyester and the micro polyester strands are split to
make spaces and edges on each fibre before the manufacturing process. The
microscopic splitting increases the surface area by more than 15 times that of
a conventional cloth; this enables the cloth to collect more dirt, dust and
bacteria in its millions of minute edges and spaces. The fibres are approximately 1/100 of a human hair in diameter! The microfibers also rub
together when being dry and causes a static charge which has led to them being
described as ‘Dirt magnets’.
Other cloths rely on the chemical to help in the process and
often end up pushing the dirt around, rather than removing it, which can be
seen on smeary surfaces. Not to mention the adverse effect that chemicals can
have on people’s health and surface being cleaned. Workers can sometimes be allergic to an element in a chemical used in office cleaning, but with a microfiber cloth we can clean the office without them.
To ensure microfiber cloths are as efficient as possible in
removing dirt etc. they must be kept clean, removing the dirt from the spaces
and edges on the microfibers to allow them to collect more. This is simple; the
clothes simply need to be washed out in clean warm water regularly during the
cleaning process. They will then keep surfaces cleaner; leaving them chemical, bacteria
and smear free.
